Automated Liquid–Liquid Displacement Porometry (LLDP) for the Non-Destructive Characterization of Ultrapure Water Purification Filtration Devices

چکیده

This scientific publication presents a novel modification of the liquid–liquid displacement porosimetry (LLDP) method, aiming for non-destructive automated analysis water purification membrane filtration devices in microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) range. The technical adaptation LLDP enables direct in-line porosimetric commercial devices, avoiding devices’ destruction. Six commercially available with polyethersulfone (PES) polysulfone (PS) membranes were studied using an improved device developed by IFTS, which was based on instrument. evaluated three different configurations: flat disks, hollow fibers, pleated membranes. results obtained proposed method compared other characterization techniques, including submicronic efficiency retention, image scanning electron microscopy (SEM), gas–liquid (GLDP). comparison demonstrated that accurately determined characteristics filters. It proved to be precise technique evaluation filter performance, as well periodic quality control fouling degree assessment devices. modified approach offers significant potential advanced contributing understanding optimization their performance.

Data fusion for automated non-destructive inspection

In industrial non-destructive evaluation (NDE), it is increasingly common for data acquisition to be automated, driving a recent substantial increase in the availability of data. The collected data need to be analysed, typically necessitating the painstaking manual labour of a skilled operator. Moreover, in automated NDE a region of an inspected component is typically interrogated several times...

NON-DESTRUCTIVE THERMAL DAMAGE CHARACTERIZATION OF CORDIERITE-MULLITE REFRACTORIES

Abstract: Refractory materials containing cordierite (2MgO.2Al2O3.5SiO2) and mullite (3Al2O3.2SiO2) are used as support in furnaces, because of their low thermal expansion properties which confer them a very good ability to thermal shock resistance. Composed of two phases presenting very different CTE (1.5–3×10-6 for cordierite and 4–6×10-6 K-1 for mullite), these materials can develop damag...
